Come and enjoy all Seneca has to offer!

Seneca, Kansas was established in 1858 by immigrant farmers traveling along the Oregon Trail. In 1860, the Overland Stage Line began to travel through Seneca and the famous Pony Express located its first Home Station west of St. Joseph, Missouri, here, in Seneca. By 1870, the St. Joseph, Denver City and Pacific Railroad came from the south. Seneca was a "railroad town", with good hotels, shops, churches and schools. The town grew to 2500 people and became the Nemaha County seat.

Today, Seneca's Main Street is listed on the National Register of Historic Places with its original brick streets and array of Victorian style homes and stores. Seneca became a Kansas Main Street City in 2007 and remains a prosperous business and cultural center.

What They Say

Both of my granddaughters favorite place to shop is The Shoe Center in Seneca! The ladies there are welcoming and helpful, even when you are short and shopping with just a little money and only two years old. Of course, it was their Grandpa who took them there first, and he wasn't even a shopper, but now he is one of their best customers. It must be the treats you get with your new shoes, or Nike running outfits, or pretty purses, or lots of jewelry. A girl can never have too many shoes, especially when you have your grandparents wrapped around your little finger!

The Shoe Center is a great place to shop for shoes and clothes for the whole family. They have the best prices for shoes. Having 2 boys in my family means we need multiple pairs of shoes for school, sports, scouts and winter fun. I love shopping for clothes at The Shoe Center. With the unique variety of dressy and casual clothes you know you won’t be wearing the same thing everyone else is. I always find exactly what I need at very affordable prices.
